Now this service will enable your music to be available to iPhone and Shazam platforms. If you feel that your music should be available to such platforms, DistroKid will only require that you pay an annual fee of $0.99 per song. Looks like something you would pay for? The other service I am sure you would want to consider is about;
When we started out explaining about DistroKid, I had highlighted that it allows its users to maintain 100% of their royalties. However, the case is different when you subscribe to this service. This service is mainly for users who want to monetize their music displayed on YouTube. DistroKid, therefore, helps in collecting such royalties. To use this service, you will have to pay an annual fee of $4.95 for a single. The case is different when you are to release an album, because in such a case, DistroKid requires you to pay $14.95 yearly. In addition to these, you will still need to give DistroKid 20% of the revenue you get, that is where the royalty split comes in.
I have to stress that although DistroKid usually allows its users to keep 100% of their royalties and they do not allow for royalty splits, YouTube monetization is an exception. You will need to give up 20% of the royalties you get.
The other additional feature you need to know about is usually referred to as;
When you do not renew your subscription, what usually happens is that your music is deleted by DistroKid. Now to avoid this, you can opt in to subscribe to ‘Leave a Legacy’. This extra feature ensures that your music is not removed. Ideally, paying for this extra feature ensures that your music is distributed for life, and even long after your death. To access this service, you will have to pay $ 29.00 for every single and $49.00 per album with more than two tracks. You will only have to pay this fee once, hence as opposed to the other extra features we have looked at, it does not require you to pay a recurring fee, once you pay, it is done! Your music will be distributed for life. Seems like a good deal, right?
