BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC- LSA

BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC

A lot of our students have this one big question which we get asked quite frequently while we are conducting music production classes. This question is usually one the first questions asked by someone who has just started out with music production and is looking for good quality samples, but for free. The majority of our students are either attending college or studying for some other course. We understand the pain when your pocket money is not sufficient enough to get all the sample packs and VSTs plugins. So, we thought that this could also be a problem for many young producers out there who want to start producing their favourite kind of music.

So, we felt it is time to address this topic with our readers so that they know that there are great alternatives to selling your soul in exchange for decent sample banks. Today, we will be sharing some of our favourite sample packs, which are not only free but also 100% royalty-free, ready for commercial use and make the most out of it. So, let’s start.

1.Cymatics

BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC

The majority of the electronic producer community is already quite familiar with Cymatics. They have been making incredibly valuable content for electronic music producers for the past 6-7 years. Cymatics not only offer free sample banks, but also some really great plugin presets, for synths like Serum and Massive. They also have audio enhancing tools and direct-to-drop MIDI files which can be used in genre-specific cases. Their major selling point is the high audio quality.

The minimum sample rate of their sample banks is 44.1 kHz and a minimum bit depth of 24 bits, which tells us that the sample quality is up to the standard. The tonal quality of the samples is great. Their samples have a good crest factor (the term which determines the difference between the Peak or dbFS value and the RMS or average value; greater difference results in lesser quality of the sample in terms of loudness), which means that you do not need additional processing to make the samples sit in your mix.

They have a limited amount of free stuff but all of their free stuff is really good and you can check that out in the link given below. Make sure to make the most of these sounds, but if you aren’t happy with just these samples, there are more.

2.Slate Digital Samples

BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC

Slate Digital is not very well known for their sample packs to be honest. We have already posted a blog about Slate Digital, talking about the Pros and Cons of getting the All Access Pass subscription. But, we can’t get tired of praising Slate Digital, and all the things that they offer. Now about the samples, they have an insane number of samples to choose from their EDM sample pack. They have over 500 sounds, which include drums (one-shots and loops), melodic loops, vocal chops, FX, and MIDI files as well.

I mean, I don’t think there is anything Slate Digital has forgotten to serve us. It's like a complete platter. This is a comprehensive sample pack to talk about, they have pretty much everything you’ll need for electronic music production and dance music.

The name itself suggests what is going to be inside the package. Not just with EDM, you will get almost all genre of sample packs here and the best part of this is, all of them are for free for you to use it. There are some of the special EDM sample packs which are provided here on this site for you to download, although the samples you’ll be getting from these sample banks are going to be limited, it's going to be worth having these samples on the side, just in case if you want to fill your library with all kinds of sounds. One of the best features of this website is, you just need to type the genre into the search bar, and it will show you all the sample packs relevant to the genre you were looking for.

4.EDM Prod

BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC

If we talk about the second-best content provider for the EDM or electronic music producer community, this is the guy. Sam Matla has been providing such incredibly valuable content even before Cymatics fell into the picture. Matla is not only known for just providing resources, but also creating educational content for you to make it in the industry. Now, obviously some of are free and others are paid, but his website is wholesome. If you ask me, what would someone who is an audio engineer, a music producer, and also a great content curator with a little bit of website knowledge do? This is where Sam comes in.

EDM Prod has its very own sample pack, which includes +700 sounds, including drums (one-shots and loops) and FX. They have additional sample packs available on their website created with collaborators. This is another additional surplus after Slate Digital Bundle to kick start with your production.

5.Ghosthack

BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS

I don’t even remember the number of vocal acapellas or vocal chop loops our students have used in their track which came from their Ultimate Vocal Library vol. 1 & vol. 2 both. The kind of quality content these guys are giving to the community is incredible. Although the majority of the sample banks on their website are paid, you can get some free as well. They have over 3000+ free samples to offer within the different sample packs you choose. With great quality samples, this is another surplus of sample banks you would get online for the EDM community.

Not only are they providing drums and loops and vocal acapella, but also Presets for various plugins like Serum, Massive, Kontakt Instrument, MIDI files, Project files, video courses, and a lot more. As I said earlier, they offer a wholesome deal for getting started with music production.

6.Looperman

BEST FREE SAMPLE BANKS

As a member of the audio and music production community, I have been using Looperman since, forever. There are, myriad of samples and loops that you can get from this website. It has an entire file repository of just too many samples and sounds to choose from. Some are paid, but most of them are free. If you are looking for a good violin loop or any other synth loop, this is probably the place to be to start looking for. Not all of the samples or loops that you’re going to find on this website are going to be of high quality, but if you know how to process the audio correctly, this can be a goldmine. The only drawback of using this website is that you are going to have to check whether the samples you have downloaded are royalty-free or not.

Some of the samples and loops do not come with a perpetual distribution license (to know more about this visit https://www.loststoriesacademy.com/in-the-studio/music-production-advance-gold/).

Talking about loops, you can filter your search with respect to the genre, the type of loop or sound you’re looking for, the key or the scale of the loop, and even the tempo. Lastly, I hope all of these loops & samples are going be beneficial for your music so that you can live up to your potential and start a career in the music industry.

Obviously, there are many people who are using some of the cheapest royalty-free sample or loop repositories, one of them being Splice, but even if you do not have that membership, you can still start with the libraries mentioned above. I hope that this helps you in ways we thought it would. I’ll see you guys in another blog, thank you so much for reading this one.
